Dear Alexandra,
You would have been eight years old in three days, on March 18.
Saba and Savta would have looked forward to your eighth birthday in three days. We would have enjoyed seeing you grow and begin to be less a child, and more a young girl.
We would have looked forward to thinking about your future, and all it would bring you.
But we cannot change how time and life work, and instead we miss you and your beautiful smile.
We can only imagine what you might have become. But we have to accept life as it is. We cannot change it. There is no alternative, though it fills us with sadness.
So we miss you, think about you, and hope that wherever you are, you know that saba and savta miss you and will always love you.

March 18, 2008, is the date that the door to your life opened and brought your beautiful presence into our family. You had much growth to experience, and much joy to bring to your family, through the years ahead. This was all cut short on August 11, 2009 when you were taken away from us. We lost a part of each of us when we lost you, our dear granddaughter, four years ago tomorrow. At your tender, young, and innocent age, we’ve struggled to make sense of it, through all the time that has passed from that day.
There is no way to overcome the loss. Though in a different world from us, if you remain aware, we want you to know we both love you dearly, miss you very much, and will always.
